Many architects value masonry for its colour, scale, texture, pattern, and look of permanence. In addition to its aesthetic appeal, masonry has a number of other desirable properties, such as its value in controlling sound, resisting fire, and insulating against daily fluctuations in temperature.
Concrete masonry is a popular building material because of its strength, durability, economy, and its resistance to fire, noise, and insects. To function as designed however, concrete masonry buildings must be constructed properly.
Uniform shape and size. Handling is easy with brick as the pieces are light in weight. Brick is easily available and transportation is less costly while stone needs to be brought in from quarries that limit the supply. You can use any type of mortar with brick masonry.
Concrete is a better choice if you want more flexibility when building your outdoor area. Masonry, however, is your best choice if you want to complete your project in less time. This is a faster method than preparing and applying the concrete. Also, it costs less than using concrete.
